Real numbers in three steps

  1. Step 1

    Set up the style BOM

How many metres of fabric, how many accessories and how many minutes of labour per piece.

  2. Step 2

Operators report their own step from a phone and consumption is deducted instantly.

  3. Step 3

    Compare

Planned and actual consumption side by side, with scrap in plain sight.

Can You Answer These Questions Today?

In an apparel workshop, every day goes by with the same questions:

In textiles, unit cost is calculated down to the cent. A 2% overconsumption of fabric can wipe out the profit on an order of thousands of pieces, and you usually notice it months later.

Skala puts the consumption planned in the BOM side by side with the actual consumption on the floor. Scrap, subcontracting and labour are posted to the style.

Did the Fabric You Planned Really Go Where It Should?

In the style BOM you define how many metres of fabric, how many accessories and how many minutes of labour each piece needs.

As production progresses, actual consumption comes in from the floor. The difference is reported as scrap; you see which style and which line has rising scrap before the order closes.

  • BOM per style: fabric + accessories + labour
  • Planned consumption / actual consumption
  • Scrap rate by style and line
  • Real cost per piece

Let Floor Data Enter the System Instantly

Operators see their own step on their phone or tablet: cutting, sewing, ironing, packing. They tap Start, and Complete when the job is done. They enter seconds from the same screen.

The moment the job is done, fabric stock is deducted, the order moves forward and cost is updated. That is exactly the answer to “we want to get out of Excel, but nobody here will use an ERP”.

  • Entry from a tablet or phone
  • Start · Pause · Complete: three buttons
  • Seconds and scrap entered on the floor
  • Fabric stock by roll, metre and kilo

One Style, Ninety Separate Lines

5 colours, 6 sizes and 3 fabrics means 90 different products. Beyond a certain point it is impossible to track that many lines in Excel.

In Skala every variant's orders, production and stock are kept separately, and you see them all in one list.

Know What's at the Subcontractor and Every Fabric's History

Printing, embroidery and washing are done outside; goods that leave also drop off the tracking list. In Skala the subcontracted operation is part of the route: what went out and how many pieces came back are on record.

Which fabric batch you used is recorded too. If there's a colour mismatch, you trace that batch's history backwards.

  • Subcontract dispatch and return tracking
  • Subcontracting cost posted to the style's cost
  • Fabric lot and batch traceability
  • Alerts for goods that haven't come back

Let Skala Tell You When to Buy Fabric

Skala looks at your open orders, current stock and past consumption, and suggests how much of each fabric and accessory you need to buy.

Questions about textile production tracking software

For general questions, see our frequently asked questions page.

How do you compare planned and actual fabric consumption in textiles?

In the style BOM you define how much fabric each piece needs. As production progresses, actual consumption from the floor enters the system and Skala shows both numbers side by side. The difference is reported as the scrap rate; you see which style and which line has rising scrap before the order closes.

Can I calculate the cost per piece of a style?

Yes. Fabric, accessories, labour, subcontracted operations and scrap are calculated together. When the order closes you see the real cost per piece and the profit margin.

Can fabric stock be tracked in metres, kilos and rolls separately?

Yes. You can track the same fabric in different units such as rolls, metres and kilos, and you decide which unit the BOM uses. The amount used in production is deducted from stock automatically.

How is colour and size tracking done?

You define your products with style, colour and size variants. Each variant's orders, production and stock are kept separately, and you see them all in one list.

Our operators don't use computers. How is floor data entered?

With the Skala Operator app. Operators see their own step on a phone or tablet, use the Start and Complete buttons and enter seconds and scrap from the same screen. There's nothing else to learn.

Can subcontracted production be tracked?

Yes. Operations sent to subcontractors are part of the production route. What was sent, when it was sent and how many pieces came back are recorded, and the subcontracting cost is posted to the cost of that order.

Why is lot tracking important in textiles?

Different batches of the same fabric can differ in colour and weight. With lot tracking you can see which batch was used in which order, so when a complaint comes in you find the source quickly.

Do my e-commerce orders come into Skala?

Yes. Orders from the Shopify, İkas, Trendyol and Ecwid integrations arrive in Skala directly. Stock is updated on every channel at the same time, so you never sell a size you don't have.
